About My Blog

For as long as I can remember, I have had my nose stuck in one book or another. I have always loved getting sucked into different worlds with different characters, to see and do things I couldn't otherwise.

C. S. Lewis says it perfectly:
"But in reading great literature I become a thousand men and yet remain myself."

Books are wonderful portals to the greatest imaginings of others. Whole worlds, memorable characters, and unique writing styles fill page after page on shelf after shelf of the everyday life. All you have to do is look inside the cover.

As much as I love reading, college did take a toll. Having to read 60 pages in one night is fun until it's an assignment or something I wouldn't have read on my own.

After recently graduating with my Bachelors in English, I would sum up my degree in two words: Reading and Papers.

This was my reading load for one semester:

But I'm recovering.

I want to read through a lot of the literary classics I find interesting; but to keep it light, I'm also interspersing other genres--mainly YA fiction and sci-fi/fantasy as well as children's books (because I'm a child at heart). So I thought it would be fun to review what I read and share it.

Because I'm not a speed reader, by any means, I'll also be doing other related posts, such as comparing books to their movie version(s) or sharing a list of favorite book characters.

So grab a cup of coffee and join me in jumping inside the covers of wonderful portals!
